COVID-19 home activities
England & Wales Cricket Board (aimed at parents and juniors aged 13+)
This course is aimed at umpires who simply want to learn the fundamental laws and basic field craft and those players who umpire 5 or 10 overs at the weekend.
This course is designed to give an overview of the basic Laws of the game as well as providing information on how to apply them and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. This course is an ideal introduction for new club umpires, a refresher for existing umpires and the first step for those who aspire to umpire at higher levels.
Surrey are running a friendly club vs club competition to see how many members each club can get to sign up to and complete the online Stage 1 Umpiring course and they will be publishing league tables!
This course is designed to provide all the skills needed to start scoring. The course covers the basics of scoring a game of cricket such as scoring symbols, umpire signals, dismissals and gives a helpful overview of the laws of the game.

"With schools currently closed due to the ongoing public health crisis across the country and beyond we thought your young aspiring cricketers might be interested in completing the attached Match Day Activity Pack from the County Club."
This enables access to a library of coaching drill videos created by Surrey staff and a number of Sky Sports ‘Cricket Masterclasses’.
Surrey say they will seek to add content to this library regularly.
Some of the videos in this drive have been filmed in a sports hall, however the coaching principles are still relevant so please do make the most of any space you have available to you, if you are to practice at home.
Surrey's Performance Coaches are also creating and recording more fun and practical drills – these will go out regularly on our Twitter and Instagram feeds.
Surrey say they would love to see footage of players keeping active and making the most of the space you have, and encourage you to tweet us or send in any videos or pictures that they can share.
Surrey have also shared the following two documents that they feel are particularly informative and supportive in the current environment:
With gyms and sports clubs closed for the forseeable future, the MCC Foundation have pulled together a resource to help all MCC Foundation Hub participants continue to Eat, Think, and Train like an athlete over the weeks ahead.
Getting regular exercise and eating the right foods is more important now then ever. In addition to keeping us physically strong, it improves mental well-being, which is vital at a time when many of us are feeling isolated and anxious.
The digital pack includes a strength and conditioning programme - that can be completed by anyone, anywhere, with no specialised equipment - and some nutrition tips.
The MCC Foundation hopes that this resource helps your child to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle over the weeks ahead - and why not get your whole family to try out the exercises too!
Wiltshire Cricket have created two really good printable children's activity packs. We've tested these out with a cricket-mad 10-year-old who loved them and are recommending them on that basis.
The activity books include a wide variety of activities, including:
English Language Activities
Research and Geography Tasks
The Lord's Taverners, a cricket charity that does lots of great cricket-themed work, especially with disabled cricketers, are producing weekly activity packs, and a video in which England Cricketer Dom Bess issues a challenge.
